Business case for our video monetization platform
Profitable streaming with Content Marketplace Platform
We've built a new kind of web hosting platform.
It's designed to give authors and publishers a better way to earn money from their digital content,
especially instructional, special interest, and news videos.
CMP (Content Marketplace Platform) is a customizable software package
for creating large-scale, subscription-based, video streaming services.
We developed it to be the basis of a better and more profitable way to buy and sell digital content.
The Tai Chi and Martial Arts Video Channel, with its embedded videos in this and affiliate web sites,
is a practical demonstration of what can be built with CMP.
CMP can be the core of a software-as-a-service system that enables publishers to combine content from multiple sources
and build large channels that are both profitable and affordable.
With CMP as the central component, a publishing service can give publishers a way to pool independently created videos into well-edited,
flat-priced subscription channels and pay providers based on actual subscriber usage.
What's the problem being addressed?
Many people and organizations with great videos have found no way of earning more than pennies by streaming them.
Even with lots of fans and large, enthusiastic communities of potential consumers,
publishers and content providers have found that they can't make a profit with any of the current services for monetizing videos.
At the same time, a growing number of print media outlets, especially magazines and newspapers, are looking at video as a way to boost their revenues.
Our video platform makes streaming easier and more lucrative for both content providers and aggregators.
How are the channels different from the usual?
For example, imagine if Golf Magazine created a CMP channel that combines instructional and competition videos from golf experts.
Each would be paid a portion of the pooled subscription revenues - based on metered viewing.
Then, audience members could buy a subscription that revolves around the sport, as opposed to a particular golf pro or tournament.
And each of those experts could incorporate their own videos within their own web sites and receive payments for any viewing or subscription sales.
Importantly, the system of payments and the formulas would be transparent and auditable, i.e. not merely dependent on trust.
Why can channels grow quickly?
Viral growth is made possible by CMP's unique affiliate mechanism - a simple system of links for "embedding" videos.
Affiliate links can be added to any page – with no code.
Signing up and viewing videos requires only clicking a simple link that includes the affiliate’s ID.
The videos appear to play within the containing web site.
There’s no loss of “stickiness” for sites that embed these links, and the web site can be extended with videos of the site owner’s choosing.
What does all this mean for consumers?
Channels hosted by a CMP service can be a great deal.
Subscribers get a large, organized selection of high quality videos at a good price - without ads.
