At the 11th Wushu World Competition in Ankara, Turkey, Max Chen (red trunks) won the bronze medal. He wins the only medal for the USA in the kickboxing (sanda) events. This is the deciding bout, against Dubanevich Andrei (Belarus, black trunks).

Max is the winner of the 2007 World Wushu Championship - Sanshou Category. He's won 12 Gold Medals in push hands competitions, and in 2000 the U.S. Wushu-Kungfu Federation (USAWKF) named him "Sanshou Athlete of the Year". His full-contact bouts contain a wealth of techniques from Chinese San Shou and Muay Thai kickboxing, along with the takedowns and throws of Sanda and Mixed Martial Arts.
